American Idol fined for Child Labor Violations  

Hey New Yorkers!  Your tax dollars at work!

New York State Labor Commissioner Patricia Smith today announced that the Labor Department recently reached a settlement with 19 Touring, LLC, the parent company for the "American Idols Live Tour 2007," totaling $5,000 for various child labor violations.

The Department determined that there were two minors working in the "American Idols Live Tour 2007" who did not have Child Performer Certificates. Additionally, 19 Touring, LLC lacked a current certificate to employ child performers.

'Idols Live' tour now facing empty seats  
Despite decent reviews, this year's American Idol tour has failed to sell-out even one of its venues. As the tour wanes on, the Idols often find themselves singing to empty seats -- as opposed to the very-successful 2006 tour. Why? Is it the performers? Did the newly-raised $60 ticket price keep people away?
