Worth a Click: Respect the Colorectal Surgeon...

This is a hilarious song, apparently performed for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons by comedians Bowser & Blue.

Thanks for the forward, mom! XOXO

Health Update

For the past 5 years, my health has been declining, but for the past 18 months, it's really gone south.  Nobody knows why.

I'm not working right now.  I don't want to talk about the symptoms -- some of this is very personal.  I am seeing the right doctors and specialists.  We have definitely made progress.  It's like solving a crime -- we're finding relevant clues, but we haven't yet got the suspect in custody.

I feel terribly guilty about breaking off contact with friends and family for long periods.  I want them to know that this is why I'm only sometimes responsive.  My energy comes and goes.  Even when the energy is up, some of the issues still keep me from doing the things I'd like to do.  As for connecting with friends, this is very difficult.  The last thing I want to do is talk about it or remind myself of all the friends that it has caused me to leave behind.

The outlook is good and I'm certainly hoping for a full recovery and to return to my previous work and play schedule.

Love,

Robb (funchords)

PS:  Please, no journal comments.  E-mail is okay.

A few notes on my life...
1. My mood is a little better, but my physical health hasn't really improved all that much. I couldn't keep up with the bowling and the square dancing, so I've dropped the square dancing for this year. I DID have a good time, and I hope I'm better by next fall so I can join and complete the 9-month class.

2. I really don't want to get into details about my health. Suffice it to say, I can't sit in one place for very long. Last weekend, I rode the train for the better part of two hours -- and I learned that I can't ride the train for the better part of two hours.

3. I have had a break-through in my bowling. For years, I couldn't figure out why I randomly threw a right gutter ball. It was like turrets, or a tic or something! My right foot is turned outward about 30 degrees -- which I noticed about 10 years ago when walking on a treadmill in front of a mirror. Well, sometimes when I get up on the deck to bowl, my feet are pointing in the wrong direction! I think they're pointed down the lane, when they're actually pointing toward the right. I've fixed that, now. For the past two weeks, I've really bowled well. My game has gone from the 150s to the 170s.

4. Katie Couric on the CBS Evening Snooze ... either she was going to make it a lot brighter, or it was going to make her boring. It won. She's boring.

5. I've been spending way too much time on http://www.PhishTank.com -- go ahead, take 30 minutes and check it out. You'll never click a bogus link again!
