On the Air Gaffs

(I was in law enforcement for 12 years, most of that working in Communications...)

Silent alarm at the Oaxaca Restaurant. (I didn't know how to pronounce that, so, of course, it came out "Any unit to respond to the 4-5-9 silent at the Oh-Kah-Kah Restaurant..." Business was down after that, I'm sure.)

Pursuit at O-Dark-Thirty, officer requesting a helicopter. My reply: "eight-john-thirteen, be advised, I can't get it up."

While I was on new-employee probation, I dispatched a Family Fight where mom was upset because "the son brought home two whores." I wanted to be more professional than say "whore" on the radio, so it went out as "seven-edward-twenty-three on the 4-15-Family mother and son dispute because the son brought home two trollops." You all know what 7E23 said next: "10-4, what's a trollop?"
